I had an awesome retro gaming night with friends and played through and beat the old classic Jackal. For anyone who can't recall "Jackal", it's an overhead shooter for 2 players on the NES where you control a jeep that shoots rockets and machine guns in different directions like Geometry Wars. Here's a vid of the game play au.youtube.com/watch?v=cuEkmyd-DUYSo after beating the game, I was surprise by the real joy of playing this old classic. Was it nostilga or real pure emotional joy from playing a game that was superbly designed to be fun. Probably more of the latter because it had everything that makes a game fun. -Skillful gameplay required but not to the point of impossible -Weapon level ups -Tight controls -Hidden items that encourage exploration -Multiplayer Just plain fun :-)

Jackal is d**n awesome, but does it ever get hard by the end. I still have the cart which sees some attention every other year.

I remember Jackal very well! It was my second Nintendo game after the standard Mario Bros./Duckhunt game. That game was just, plain FUN.
And to answer Justinzero's question, yes, it gets harder.
